County Golf Partnerships (CGP) are an effective and structured way to support the development of golf within a county.
A CGP involves the Men's County Union, Ladies' County Association and County PGA working together to combine knowledge, best practices and resources. From 1st April 2012 to 31th September 2012 70,442 people benefited from some form of golfing activity through CGPs, of which 36,642 were aged 16 years plus.
England Golf provide support in facilitating the creation of CGPs, the production and implementation of county development plans and through ongoing guidance and direction to ensure partnerships develop and progress. CGPs are an integral part of the Whole Sport Plan for Golf and the England Golf Partnership (EGP) have committed a significant level of funding from 2013 to 2017 to support core activities, County Development Officers, coaching and coach development within the counties.
There are currently 32 County Golf Partnerships formed in England who have identified their development needs - priorities and intentions. With County Development Officers in place, the partnerships are able to actively support their golf clubs and link into the national development plan in a structured and effective way.
The CGP Impact Report 1st April 2012 to 30th September 2012 provides information on some of the successful recruitment and retention projects that have been undertaken within the individual counties.
